Overview

What is CSR-1 Registration?

CSR-1 registration is a mandatory certification under the Companies Act, 2013 for NGOs and non-profit organisations that wish to receive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from companies. It is governed by Section 135 of the Companies Act and the CSR Policy Rules, 2014.

Any company with a net worth of ₹500 crore or more, turnover of ₹1,000 crore or more, or net profit of ₹5 crore or more must spend at least 2% of its average net profit on CSR activities. These funds can only be routed through organisations registered on the CSR-1 portal.

CSR-1 registration is obtained by filing Form CSR-1 with the Registrar of Companies (ROC). Once registered, your NGO gets a unique CSR registration number, making it eligible to receive and utilise CSR funds from corporate entities.
