Overview

What is a Trademark?

A Trademark is a unique symbol, word, logo, or combination that identifies and distinguishes the goods/services of one entity from others. It serves as a badge of origin, allowing consumers to identify and trust your brand.

In India, trademarks are registered under the Trade Marks Act, 1999 with the Trade Marks Registry under the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM). Once registered, the owner gets the exclusive right to use the mark and take legal action against infringers.

From filing, you can use the ™ symbol on your mark. After successful registration, you are entitled to use the ® symbol, signalling full legal protection and exclusive rights across India.
