Overview

What is MSME / Udyam Registration?

MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) registration, now known as Udyam Registration, is a government registration scheme under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India. It is a completely free online process that provides recognition to enterprises engaged in manufacturing or service activities.

The classification is based on investment in plant & machinery/equipment and annual turnover. Micro enterprises have investment up to Rs. 1 crore and turnover up to Rs. 5 crore, Small up to Rs. 10 crore investment and Rs. 50 crore turnover, and Medium up to Rs. 50 crore investment and Rs. 250 crore turnover.

Udyam registration is linked to PAN and Aadhaar, and data is auto-verified from the ITR and GST returns. It provides a unique Udyam Registration Number (URN) along with a certificate.
